Not sure what color iPod to get a special someone this Christmas? Try thinking RED — and not just because it’s a pretty holiday color.

Apple is one of many companies partnered with (PRODUCT) RED to make special red products in an effort to help AIDS programs — and there’s no better time for it than Christmas. This time of year, everyone’s placing iPods and iPhones and iPads under the tree, and choosing red just might help somebody else.

A percentage of the profit from every Apple RED item goes to the Global Fund for AIDs programs in Africa. Apple has donated more than $ 65 million to that fund over the years.

Apple has a slew of RED products that fit every budget this holiday season, headed by the iPod Touch (starting price: $ 229). If that’s not in your price range, there’s a RED iPod Shuffle ($ 49) available as well, and smart cases and covers for iPads and iPad Minis are included. All are available in the Apple Store or website.

It makes gift-giving that much more giving. So if you head to an Apple Store this holiday, think RED.
