Will the iPod Touch 6 make its appearance on the Oct. 16 Apple event, or will the iPod Touch line be retired for good?

News has just emerged the iPod Touch 6 release may be faced with delays due to supply issues, gadget websites have reported.

Pushed back from its last September’s previous release schedule to make way for Apple iPhone 6′s launch, the iPod Touch 6th generation has been held back yet again after rumors surfaced Apple was experiencing issues finding a suitable niche market for their next gen music and video player with all its other products in the market.

Additionally, postponement of the release may have had to do with supplier issues.

Apple’s sixth generation iPod is said to be available in two size variants – 4.7 and 5.7 inches, and five different colors – silver, pink, red, blue, space grey, and yellow, with 1GB of RAM upgradable to as much as 128G.

According to iTech Whiz, the new iPod may present improvements from its predecessor, the iPod Touch 5, including better specifications, iOS 8.3, a larger display area, longer battery life, a better security system featuring Touch ID fingerprint censor, an 8MP iSight Camera, and Apple Pay, the company’s latest mobile payment system.

Reports have also emerged the iPod Touch 6G will be waterproof, and will be compatible with the Apple smartwatch

Price point for the iPod Touch 6G has been pegged at between $ 250 to $ 300, depending on the device’s memory capacity.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has yet to confirm the release date for the company’s latest media player. However, following Apple’s pattern of releasing new devices in the fall, fans of the iPod may expect a September or October target date.
