iOS users listening to music could always quickly skip tracks or stop tunes from playing thanks to iPod controls on the home screen. All it took was a double press of the home button and these controls would appear. iOS 7 provides similar functionality, but the controls cannot be accessed the same way.
To bring up music controls from the lock screen or home screen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the Control Center. Song information and music controls are found in the middle of the Control Center, under the brightness slider.
Note: To access Control Center from the lock screen, this must be enabled in Settings -> Control Center -> Access on Lock Screen -> ON (green switch)
