Two days after the public release of iOS 7, Apple customers flocked to retailers on Friday to purchase the company's two new iPhone models, the colorful iPhone 5c and the top-of-the-line iPhone 5s.
Of course, you don't either of the two new iPhones to enjoy iOS 7, which marks the first time Apple has redesigned its mobile operating system since the launch of the very first iPhone in June 2007.
Introduced at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in June, iOS 7 features a complete revamp of the classic icons, style, colors and textures of iOS to make it feel simpler and more sophisticated. But iOS 7 isn't just a cosmetic upgrade; Apple added dozens of important features and tools to make the system more productive, too. Most notable among the new features in iOS 7 are the helpful Control Center that provides quick access to important settings like brightness and Airplane Mode; a built-in parallax that shifts the background image in response to one's movements; a new way to easily multitask and close open applications; and the AirDrop feature for sharing photos or documents with other iPhone users in the area.
Apple redesigned all of its first-party applications for iOS 7 users, but owners of the new iPhone 5S will enjoy a few features nobody else can access. In particular, iPhone 5s owners can film video at a whopping 120 frames per second and play their videos back in slow-motion, and a new fingerprint sensor embedded directly in the home button, called Touch ID, lets users bypass Apple's security measures with a simple touch of a finger or thumb.
