Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will release an iPhone 6 some time in the next year. The smart phone is the talk of much of the internet already, with users posting concept art and wish lists on many different websites. The next generation iPhone will probably be the best one that Apple has ever made, but there's still very little known about it.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is likely to make some big changes with the iPhone 6. The company has settled into a pattern of releasing a small upgrade with and S suffix every two years and a major upgrade every other year. the iPhone 6 will be the first major upgrade since Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) released the iPhone 5 in 2012. With the quality of Android phones increasing, Apple will have to deliver something great.
Apple iPhone 6 rumors
The number one rumor floating around the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 6 is that the Cupertino company will increase the size of the screen. This is the was that the market is going, and Apple already increased screen size with the iPhone 5. That means there is a good chance that the iPhone 6 will have a bigger screen.
On top of the bigger screen, the iPhone 6 is likely to have all of the features of the iPhone 5s, along with a much faster processor. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) may also be able to make an iPhone 6 with longer battery life if it increases the size of the case. The concept above shows shat an iPhone 6 with a bigger screen could look like, though it's a little bit similar to the HTC One.
The iPhone 6 will also likely come with some kind of killer feature that will make it one of the coolest smart phones out there. This year's iPhone 5S had the Touch ID sensor. Nobody knows what Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will put in next year's model, but it's bound to be something great.
iPhone 6 release date
The iPhone 6 will be released some time in 2014, but nobody is sure what month Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will bring it to market. Apple analysts Gene Munster reckons we'll see it before September of next year, but he's been wrong before. It all depends on what products Apple is bringing to market next year, and how the iPhone 5S is selling.
The iPhone 6 will probably be released no earlier than June and no later than October. If Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is completely revolutionizing its business next year, with the release of one or more new products, that date could skew toward earlier in the range.
The iPhone 5s is performing well. That means that Apple will probably want to give it full cycle. If the company is not planning any other major events for 2014, that means the release date is likely to come in at September or October of next year, the same as usual.
iPhone 6 margins
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) manages to keep its margins high with a combination of cost control and affluent demand. The company has managed to keep its product from being commodified by keeping the quality and brand image at a level that differentiates the iPhone from other products.
The iPhone 6 will endeavor to continue this trend, but it is unclear whether Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will be able to keep margins as high as they have been in recent year. There are two major problems for Apple. The first is the wearing off of the coolness of smart phones. The second is competition.
If Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) ever has to compete on price by lowering its margins, investors will begin fleeing the company. It is silly to believe that the iPhone will dominate the industry for the next decade. It will have to stop being at the top, or at least lower its profit margin, at some point in the next few years.
This is why Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) needs to continue to update its mobile operating system and its smart phones. The killer features that the iPhone 6 will have will keep the company's margins at an acceptable level. Apple will make a misstep at some point, and investors are watching for it.
