Although Apple no longer sells the iPhone 5, Wal-Mart said customers can still pick up the 2012 smartphone at its stores, now available for $ 29 with a two-year contract from AT&T or Verizon.
Wal-Mart has been selling the device since September, when Apple introduced its latest iPhone models and discontinued the iPhone 5. Previously, the giant retailer sold the iPhone 5 for $ 79; it cut its price by $ 50 on Friday.
The iPhone 5 at Wal-Mart is a nice option for users interested in an iPhone with a 4-inch screen. The other options are the new iPhone 5s, which starts at $ 199 with a contract for a 16 GB model, and the iPhone 5c, which normally retails for $ 99 with a two-year contract.

Internally, the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 5c are the same, but the 5 comes in an aluminum shell in black or white whereas the 5c comes in a number of different colored plastic shells. The iPhone 5s, meanwhile, has a few features the 5 lacks. Those include a faster processor, a fingerprint scanner on its home button and the ability to shoot video in slow motion.
Wal-Mart said the 16 GB version of the iPhone 5 will be available for $ 29 while a 32 GB version will retail for $ 129 and a 64 GB model will go for $ 229.
The retailer said it has also begun selling the new iPad mini with Retina display at its stores. The iPad mini with Retina is the successor to last year’s iPad mini. Wal-Mart said it will carry the $ 399 16 GB version of the Apple tablet.
Wal-Mart also said it has rolled back the prices of the Galaxy S 4 and the Galaxy S 4 Active. Each device will be available for $ 138 on contracts with AT&T.
