The new handset from Google and LG features a 4.95" HD screen, an 8MP camera and claims to offer seven hours of continuous use on 4G.
It will offer the latest version of Android, codenamed KitKat, which sources at the company say is designed to feel more premium.
Carphone Warehouse will sell the device for £295 or free on a £32 per month 3G O2 contract. Official Google Play Store prices are £299 for the 16GB model and £339 for the 32GB model.
Meanwhile the iPhone 5S, which comes in gold, silver or ‘space grey’, costs £549 for the 16GB model, £629 for the 32GB model and £709 for the 64GB model. The 5S comes an A7 chip, a fingerprint sensor, ‘ultra-fast’ wireless, an 8-megapixel camera and iOS 7.
