Northern Illinois coach Rod Carey has lobbied for quarterback Jordan Lynch’s Heisman Trophy contention. Against Ball State, Lynch made a case for himself with his play.
Lynch earned Mid-American Conference honors as the West Division offensive player of the week by racking up 468 total yards of offense in Wednesday’s 48-27 victory against the Cardinals.
He completed a career-high 26 passes on 32 attempts, connecting on a career-best 81.3 percent of his passes for a season-high 345 passing yards. He threw two touchdown passes of 58 and 36 yards to receiver Da’Ron Brown.
Lynch, a senior, added 123 rushing yards on 20 carries with two touchdowns.
