THE mother of a Maiden Gully girl whose bag was stolen in a Salvation Army store has pleaded for the return of an iPod holding precious family pictures.
Lisa Claxton said her daughter Annie, 10, was buying clothes for her teddy Sleepy Bear at the Whip Court Salvation Army store on Monday when her satchel, pocket money and iPod were stolen.
”Annie put her belongings down to try on belts, when she turned around her black satchel was gone,'' Mrs Claxton said.
She said the iPod held holiday photos and videos which had not been uploaded to a computer.
"We went to New Zealand and it's the first overseas holiday she's been on. When Annie realised the photos were gone, she began sobbing. She hasn't stopped crying since," Mrs Claxton said.
She said the family wasn’t fussed about the $ 30 but was desperate for the iPod.
"We don't mind about the money. That's fine. The person who took it probably needs the cash more than us. Annie just wants her photos returned because those are her memories," she said.
"It's a black iPod with a blue penguin cover on it. It's password protected, so it won't be any use to anyone."
Mrs Claxton reported the theft to Bendigo Police and urged anyone with information to call them on 5448 1300 or hand the iPod to Maiden Gully Post Office addressed to Annie.
